This ad was created as part of a pitch for a new look, concept and execution for a direct mail advertising magazine, one that focused on the renewed and reusable nature of the content inside. The idea was to drive new reader interest and to give the publication a longer shelf life. The art of hair is raven-haired radiance. The final project as presented to the sales rep of the book. The item that went to press was significantly more subdued.
Image details: a) hand-drawn masks. b) use of custom brushes to mask photos with vector smart objects. c) a lot of masking and redrawing hair with the Wacom tablet. d) more masking using scanned watercolor textures.
Composed in Photoshop CS3, stock photography, hand-drawn/created elements, vectors and a Wacom Intuos3.
